I am looking for a way to handle files (read, write, update) locally with no server, and without IE and it’s ActiveX. I don’t need a database, just the ability to read, render, and edit .txt or at least .xml. It seems that this desire to create an html/js application for one’s own use is not uncommon, but I can’t find any info on how it could be done. I think a tutorial of this sort would be most welcome.
